The band's debut Songs for a Break Up: Vol 1 was released last year and rumors are spreading that it will be properly re-released on a yet to be named label later this spring.

Broken Social Scene digital single

Broken Social Scene have provided another glimpse into their upcoming May 4th release, Forgiveness Rock Record.

The band of epic proportions played a couple shows in Austin as part of the annual SXSW music conference. I was lucky enough to see their headlining set at Stubb's (brief Pitchfork set review here); and I must say, start counting down the days to this release. It is certainly something to look forward to.

New tracks Forced to Love and All to All were released as part of a digital single that can be purchased today via iTunes and their website.

Stream the jams below.

At the Levi's Fader Fort: SXSW

I'd be remiss, if I didn't take the opportunity to stop by the blogger's lounge at the Fader Fort and give a quick update. Thus far, SXSW is everything I could have ever imagined it to be. We are having a great time and experiencing quite a lot.

Bands you must see and/or listen to immediately:

Fitz and the Tantrums

Casiokids
Best Coast

Hope to see you there and enjoy the rest of your week!

SXSW Playlist Part 1

Next week thousands of bands, musicians, industry folk and fans of good times, descend upon Austin, TX for the annual SXSW Music Conference. I for one, will be in attendance and couldn't be more excited; however, the sheer enormity of the event lends to a bit of an overwhelming feeling when trying to weigh the plethora of musical options that lay ahead.

No worries though, as it's a good problem to have. Here is a little taste of what's to come.

Enjoy.

Sleigh Bells - Ring Ring
Washed Out - Feel It All Around
Miike Snow - Cult Logic
Broken Social Scene - World Sick
The xx - VCR
Surfer Blood - Floating Vibes
Neon Indian - Deadbeat Summer

The National debut new song on Jimmy Fallon

The National graced us with their presence last night on Fallon and with it came a sneak peak into their new album High Violet. The Brooklyn band played lead track Terrible Love, which crashes and closes with a bang (like all National songs should). The highly anticipated album drops May 11th and this little taste leaves me more excited than ever. Check out the website created for the album and watch a couple clips featuring them in the studio.

Also they have two Los Angeles dates at the Wiltern (5/21,5/22) this spring.

Enjoy

YKTAM 2.0

A big thank you is in order to my good buddy Chris for the beautiful work done here on this ol' blog. Chris wears a daytime hat as a designer at Seattle agency, Creature. However, after hours, you may know him as one half of the equation that is Heaters.

Heaters currently have no appearances on the schedule... but if you see the above guy around, give him a high-five.

Also, if you haven't watched this video of kids singing a Phoenix song, please do; it will make you smile.

Enjoy,

T-Hale

Odds and Ends

Tonight, Saratoga Springs, NY buzz duo Phantogram play Bordello Bar in downtown LA. I won't be in attendance, so if you happen to go, would love to hear what you think. I'm hoping to check them out in a couple weeks at SXSW; want to see what all this hype is about. Their Barsuk debut album Eyelid Moves is out now. Stream the single below.

Speaking of SXSW, NPR Music compiled a 100 song playlist of artists you need to check out that are playing the annual music conference. Whether you plan on attending or not, it's definitely worth a listen. Love those guys.

Cheers!
